If you were to be stranded in an island, you would rather be stuck there with someone who has something in his brain or a guy who believes in 'why bother memorizing anything if I can just google it!'?
Intelligent people are "intelligent" because they "digest" better. Anybody can "google", but what do you do with the result? That's what separates critical thinkers from the pack. Does your BS alarm go off when you see some google search results or ChatGPT responses? Do you just believe whatever your team tells you cuz your desire to belong is so strong? When someone tells you to "believe in experts", do you go back and check the "experts" track records?
I believe in having a lot of "useful" information in your brain. It's your context window so to speak. I want my "context window" to be bigger than yours. When I search for information on the Internet, I try to connect dots. And a lot of times, I end up with missing dots. And luckily I can pull those missing dots from my brain and get a full picture.
I use various memory techniques to memorize things; the link, the peg, spaced repetitions, memory palace etc.
Being cornered is actually a good thing.
