Chloe school starts today

Why I do my son to go to better school

Short answer: I don't see anything else in him that can propel him to success. He doesn't have a drive. He doesn't have motivation. He doens't have a good work ethic. He doesn't have a leadership skill. I don't think he can come up to strangers and make elevator pitch. So he will have to navigate his career with a piece of paper called resume just like 99% of population. So someone like him needs good credential to help him. That's my logic as to why he MUST go to better school. UCSD won't just cut it. No smart person respects people who went to UCSD. I went there and I don't. Especially because I went there. I know the quality of students who end up there.

UCSD is actually worse than no name school in middle of nowhere. UCSD tells me that you wanted to go to a better school but you couldn't.

  1. you are not smart enough.
  2. you didn't play the game; it shows your lack of adaptability.
  3. you didn't work hard.

You can say whatever you want to say about DEI and shit. But the bottom line is you didn't want to play the game right. So you lose.

It's tough out there​

My son does not undertand his confortable life comes from my struggles. He doesn't understand that I've been shielding him from reality. During his college application process, he tasted the bitter truth being Asian male. You are fucking hated. Schools don't want you. The world doesn't want you. The only way for you to succeed is to succeed in spite of this rigged system.

But sadly I still do not see it. Hopefully things will change once his out of this house. I don't know. Ultimately this will be his life. But I won't jeorpadize my future in any way. He can now live his life and I can finally live my own life.

Now I get My Dad was always sad in US​

By moving here, my Mom called my Dad a loser without calling him a loser. And I don't think my Dad ever got over that. My ultimate goal is to move back to Korea and die there. It's sorta amazing that I lived in a foreigh country for this long. Never felt welcomed or should I be. There is always this tension of having to be polite. In Korea, I don't have to "think" about it. I just am cuz we all share the same genes or blood whatever.

It's an amazing feeling to be in Korea at least for me. I feels "home"

Whenever I ask my kids how some tough classes are going towards the end of school year and it is still possible to get A out of class, they alway say yes. Then I ask what do you need to get in the final to get the A out of the class.

They usually say 100. Then I ask, "out of?"

"ummm 100"

Do not end up there. You are shooting for the moon now. There is a life lesson to be had.

You really need to get your shit together earlier in life.

Here is the thing I hear all the time about me. 'look at you. you turned out okay' I don't want my kids to turn out just "ok." I
